What is freedom challenge?

Freedom Challenge is a team challenge for Amnesty groups in New Zealand to take action for human rights around the world. It takes place during Freedom Week - our national public action week, July 28 - August 3.

How does it work?

Each team stages an event or events to highlight a pressing human rights issue. The aims are to:
  • Raise awareness of the issue in your school or community.
  • Inspire others to take direct action of some kind (such as signing an online petition).
  • Raise money for Amnesty's work to make the world a safer more just place.
  • Recruit others to join Amnesty in this vital work.

Teams are also encouraged to contact their local media and invite them along to do a story on their event.
